IT Minister initiates plans for annual DCO Investment Summit

December 20, 2023 (MLN): In a continuous effort to facilitate investment in the IT and Telecom sector in Pakistan, Dr. Umar Saif, the caretaker IT minister held a meeting on Tuesday with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to finalize plans for hosting the DCO Digital Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) event in the country.

The event will be hosted in collaboration with the World Economic Forum to bring all DCO member states and big investors to Pakistan.

Moreover, it will be the first of its kind event to be hosted every year in Pakistan, putting Pakistan on the map for big investments in the digital economy in Pakistan.

It is crucial to mention that the Information Technology (IT) industry has shown a robust performance as the export of services through this industry has surged by 11.66% YoY to $259m in November, compared to $233m worth of exports in the Same Period Last Year (SPLY).

On a sequential basis, exports have increased by 8.82% MoM in November compared to the $238m figure recorded in October 2023.
