Govt slashes petrol prices by Rs12 per litre

May 16, 2023 (MLN): In order to provide maximum relief to the masses in difficult times, the federal government on Monday decided to slash the petrol prices by Rs12 per litre to Rs270 per litre. 

In a notification, the Finance Division said, "In view of the declining price trend of petroleum products in the international market, the government has decided to reduce the existing prices of petroleum products in order to pass on the benefits of decreasing prices trend of petroleum products in the international market and provide maximum relief to the masses."

Similarly, the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD), Kerosene (SKO), and Light Diesel Oil has dropped by Rs30, Rs12, and Rs12 to stand at Rs258, Rs164.07, and Rs152.68 per litre. 

The new prices are effective from May 16, 2023. 

During the previous fortnight, the government kept the petrol price unchanged at Rs282 per litre. However, the prices of LDO and Kerosene had been slashed by Rs10
