Govt approves increase in power tariff by up to Rs 0.18 per unit

December 29, 2020 (MLN): The federal government has approved an increase in electricity tariff up to 18 paisas per unit for all consumers except those of Karachi effective from December 1, 2020.
According to the Tribune, the notification issued by the Ministry of Energy said that the average electricity increased from Rs 13.35 per unit to Rs 13.53. Moreover, 15 paisas per unit are applicable to consumers using up to 300 units while using more than 300 units of electricity per month will have to pay 18 paisas per unit.
The said adjustment will be reflected separately in the user bill by XWDlSCOs, with additional charges applicable for the next 10 monthly billing cycles applicable from 01 December 2020 as per the notice.
