Government to curb revenue shortfall by increasing sales tax

January 01, 2019 (MLN): Government has decided to fill the revenue shortfall by increasing the sales tax.

According to the official sources, sales tax on all petroleum products have increased by 17 percent, sales tax on petrol, diesel and kerosene oil have increased by 9 percent, 4 percent and 15 percent respectively.

Moreover, sales tax on light diesel has increased by 16.5 percent.

New rates will be effective from today, January 01, 2019.
