Gold surges to fresh record of Rs272,000

September 20, 2024 (MLN): Gold prices in Pakistan surged to a fresh record on Friday, with 24-karat gold being sold at Rs272,000 per tola after a jump of Rs3,500.

Globally, spot gold also rose to an all-time high of $2,614 an ounce, up $26.9 or 1.04% from the previous session after the Federal Reserve’s half-percentage-point interest-rate cut.

The Karachi Sarafa Association reported the price of 24-karat gold at Rs233,196 per 10-gram, up Rs3,001.

Similarly, the price of 22-karat gold was quoted higher at Rs213,763 per 10-gram.

On the other hand, silver prices remained unchanged in the domestic market, with 24-karat silver being sold at Rs2,950 per tola and Rs2,529 per 10-gram.
