Gold surges Rs5,900 to hit new peak

April 22, 2025 (MLN): Gold price in Pakistan surged to an all-time high on Tuesday, with 24-karat gold hitting a record Rs363,700 per tola marking a sharp increase of Rs5,900.

Similarly, 24-karat gold per 10-gram was sold at Rs311,814 after a gain of Rs5,059, according to rates shared by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewelers Sarafa Association (APGJSA).

The price of 22-karat gold was also quoted higher at Rs285,839 per 10-gram.

On the other hand, silver prices remained unchanged in the domestic market, with 24-karat silver being sold at Rs3,441 per tola and Rs2,950 per 10-gram.

Globally, spot gold traded near $3,454 an ounce, up $139.5 or 4.21% from the previous session.

Gold prices soared to a record high, hitting the crucial around $3,500 mark on Tuesday, as concerns over U.S. President Donald Trump's criticism of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell dampened risk sentiment and drove investors towards safe-haven bullion.
