March 29, 2025 (MLN): A fire broke out in a gas line at Korangi Creek, leading experts to believe that it might have been caused by a shallow underground gas reservoir.

According to oil and gas specialists, the fire could be due to a small gas deposit present at a lesser depth.

Jamal Baqar, CEO of TPL RMC, stated that they had drilled up to a depth of 1,200 feet.

However, he confirmed that the soil testing conducted earlier did not indicate the presence of any gas deposits.

The CEO further emphasized that there was no prior report suggesting gas presence in the area.

Jamal Baqar clarified that the boring was conducted for water extraction purposes.

The incident has raised concerns, and further investigations are expected to determine the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the underground gas deposits.
