Foreign investors take out whopping net amount of Rs 18.8 billion via SCRA

March 04, 2020 (MLN): Foreign Investors during the week ended February 28, 2020, took out a whopping net amount of Rs18.8 billion by selling of local securities. Prior to this, international investors were the net buyers for 19 consecutive weeks.

According to a weekly report on Specially Convertible Rupee Accounts (SCRA) released by the State Bank of Pakistan, the gross sale of securities during the week was recorded at Rs.43.58 billion, which is around 2.18 times or 119 percent higher than the figures recorded last week. Similarly, the total purchase of securities stood at Rs.24.76 billion, which is 32 percent lower than the prior week.

Consequently, the net sale of securities for the week clocked in at Rs.18.8 billion against Rs 16.7 billion net purchase of securities recorded during last week.

Apart from this, the inflow of remittance into these accounts stood at Rs.10.07 billion, while its outflow has been reported at Rs.28.56 billion.

The closing balance of SCRA was recorded at Rs.30.3 billion, which marks a decline of Rs.281 million over the week.
