Finance Minister Invites Japanese Firms to Invest in Pakistan

Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Japan, Mr. Taro Aso yesterday on sidelines of ADB’s 50th Annual Meeting of Board of Governors at Yokahoma. During the meeting he invited Japanese corporations to invest in Pakistan. He also informed Japanese Ministers about advantages being enjoyed by Japanese Corporations who are currently running business operations in Pakistan. The Senator further informed Japanese Ministers about recent reports from a well-known think-thank regarding the membership of Pakistan in G20 by 2020, making her one of the most lucrative place for investment during the next few years.

The Japanese Minister also acknowledged the growth of Pakistani economy, saying that Pakistan is becoming an attractive investment destination for Japanese and foreign investors especially in the textile sector.

Senator Dar invited Mr. Taro Aso to visit Pakistan on mutually suitable dates so that further steps can be taken to accentuate bilateral trade.

Earlier during the day while attending the Business Session Event of ADB, Senator Dar informed about the macroeconomic stability achieved by Pakistan in the recent years due to an overhaul of the economic system with the help of structural reforms. He also cited various reports by credit rating agencies, international financial institutions, development partners, think-tanks and experts acknowledging Pakistan’s macroeconomic stability.
