Fertilizer nutrient offtake decreases by 10.8 percent in March

April 27, 2020 (MLN): Total fertilizer nutrient offtake during March 2020 was about 227 thousand tonnes, which represents a decrease of 10.8 percent over March 2019.

According to monthly data released by the National Fertilizer Development Center, Nitrogen offtake decreased by 17.8 percent while phosphate increased by 29.7 percent. Moreover, Potash offtake witnessed a decrease of 20.3 percent over the previous March 2019.

In product terms, urea offtake was 303 thousand tonnes, which exhibited a decrease of 25.9 percent. DAP offtake was 79 thousand tonnes, which recorded an increase of 21.0 percent over March 2019.

The cumulative nutrient offtake during Rabi 2019-20 was about 2266 thousand tonnes, witnessing a decrease of 3.9 percent over the same time frame of Rabi 2018-19.

Production of all fertilizer products during March 2020 was about 685 thousand tonnes. Out of these, urea production was 510 thousand tonnes, (74.4 percent of total products).

Other products were: DAP 38 thousand tonnes, CAN 57 thousand tonnes, Nitrophos 66 thousand tonnes, SSP 5.1 thousand tonnes, NPK’s 8 thousand tonnes and SOP 0.7 thousand tonnes. Imported supplies were around 80 thousand tonnes comprising of 69 thousand tonnes of DAP, 2 thousand tonnes SOP and MOP each and 7 thousand tonnes of AS.
