FDI slumps by 28.68% YoY in April

May 17, 2023 (MLN): Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Pakistan stood at $121.6 million in April 2023, registering a drop of 28.68% YoY and 25.5% MoM compared to $170.6mn in April 2022 and $163.4mn in March 2023, the latest data issued by State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) showed
Within the direct investments in the review month, there was an inflow of $147.3mn, down by 24%YoY while the outflow stood at $25.6mn, up by over 7.71% YoY.
The foreign private investment into the country slumped by 16.83% YoY to clock in at $27.8mn in April 2023.
Meanwhile, only $1.1mn was recorded under the foreign public investment during the review month.
Accordingly, the total foreign investment in the review month inched up by 3.55% YoY to clock in at $129mn, compared to $124.5mn in April 2022.
Within 10MFY23, FDI decreased by 23.3% YoY to $1.17bn as compared to FDI of $1.52bn reported in the corresponding period last year.
