FDI rises by 7.28% MoM to $131.37m in November

December 18, 2023 (MLN): Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Pakistan stood at $131.37 million in November 2023, registering an increase of 7.28% compared to 122.46m in October 2023, the latest data issued by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) showed.

On a year-on-year basis, FDI has surged by 12.25% compared to 117.03m in November 2022.

On a cumulative basis, within 5MFY24, FDI increased by 8.1% YoY to $656.1m as compared to FDI of $606.9m reported in the corresponding period last year.

Within the direct investments in the review month, there was an inflow of $193.54m, down by 10.19% YoY, while the outflow dropped to $62.17m, down by over 36.86% YoY.

With respect to the portfolio investment under FDI, an inflow of $27.54m was witnessed through equity securities, as compared to an inflow of $0.74m.

The foreign private investment into the country amounted to $158.91m in November 2023, which jumped by 34.93% YoY compared to $117.78m in November 2022.

Meanwhile, foreign public divestment stood at $2.95m during the review month.

Accordingly, the total foreign investment in the review month clocked in at $155.96m, compared to $118.14m in November 2022.
