Energy Minister, IFC Regional Director discuss power sector reforms

September 22, 2023 (MLN): To improve and enhance the power sector, a detailed discussion for the efficient working of DISCOs was held in the meeting between the Minister for Energy, Muhammad Ali, and the head of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) delegation, Khawaja Aftab Ahmed.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Energy (Power Division) spokesperson on Thursday, discussions were held on improvement in line losses and better transmission options.

Additionally, a comprehensive assessment of global trends was also conducted during the meeting.

The Energy Minister engaged in conversations regarding other countries with better models. The models of India and Brazil were also discussed in detail concerning better recovery. The meeting focused on improving future reforms and the effective functioning of DISCOs.

To note, Khawaja Aftab Ahmed serves as the Regional Director for East, Central Asia, Pakistan, and Afghanistan within the Ministry of Energy (Power Division).
