Recent days have seen Cotton prices escalate sharply.

Prices of Cotton have been continuously on the rise as only on 27th of October, prices for Cotton had touched 6,550 per maund hitting its two month highs.

Cotton price have reached almost four months high level in the third week of November, increasing by 200 per maund. A maund of Cotton is currently priced at Rs. 7,000.

Experts have given various reasons for this surprise surge in the prices; imminent rupee devaluation, lack of quality cotton and lower than expected output. However, in a recent report by Pakistan Central Cotton Committee, the estimated production has seen no change since August, 2017.
