November 5, 2019 (MLN): The government has asked the Ministry of Commerce to formulate a long term policy regarding anti-smuggling and import substitution.

As per sources, the objective of these policies will be to mitigate revenue losses resulting from import compression.

Consequently, these policies will help the government in raising revenues.

Hearsay has it that the industrial policy shall be prepared for a period of ten years.

The significance of such policies can be inferred from the Afghanistan transit trade scenario, wherein the domestic production has been hurt due to continuous smuggling of goods.
