Closing Bell: Uptick Resumes

January 24, 2020 (MLN): The KSE-100 index ended Friday's session on a joyful note, as it gained approximately 126 points and closed at 42,633-mark.

Throughout the day market remained under coercion, however, buying emerged just before the session ends which shoved the index towards the green zone.

Overall, the KSE-100 index remained rangebound, recording a loss of 536 points over the week.

The Index traded in a range of 456.87 points or 1.07 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 42,707.42 and a low of 42,250.55.

Of the 93 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 50 closed up 39 closed down, while 4 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 113.68 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Cement with 41 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 29 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 18 points, Textile Composite with 18 points and Commercial Banks with 15 points.

The most points added to the index was by PPL which contributed 42 points followed by BAHL with 17 points, LUCK with 16 points, HUBC with 15 points and MCB with 15 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Miscellaneous with 12 points, Tobacco with 8 points, Insurance with 4 points, Close – End Mutual Fund with 2 points and Vanaspati & Allied Industries with 1 points.

The most points taken off the index was by POL which stripped the index of 21 points followed by HBL with 15 points, SHFA with 12 points, BAFL with 9 points and PMPK with 8 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 57.78 Million to 173.04 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.19.78 Billion.

Total companies traded were 350 compared to 368 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 178 closed up, 152 closed down while 20 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 20,121 to 64,894.

Value Traded decreased by 3.05 Billion to Rs.6.73 Billion
