November 8, 2018 (MLN): Finance Minister Asad Umar has said that China has agreed to offer its expertise in tackling cybersecurity issues. The statement was made against the backdrop of a recent data security breach that took place on October 27th.
"China has made immense progress in tackling cybercrimes and we shall be implementing their excellent cybersecurity systems here in Pakistan," said Umar.
Though the US remains the leader in cybersecurity, China has moved ahead by leaps and bounds, the minister added.
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) had recently refuted the claim made by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) director of the cybercrime wing that the data of "almost all banks" had been compromised.
The Central Bank emphasized that except for the incident of October 27th, 2018 in which reportedly the IT security of one bank was compromised, no breach has been reported.
