November 15, 2023 (MLN): The Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises (CCoSOE) on Wednesday approved the revised State-Owned Enterprises (Ownership and Management) Policy 2023 and recommended it for Cabinet's approval.

A press release issued today highlighted that this decision was reached during CCoSOE's meeting in Islamabad, presided over by Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar.

The main objective regarding state-owned enterprises (SOEs) is to reduce their presence within the public sector and simultaneously enhance the competitiveness, accountability, and responsiveness of those that remain.

Moreover, SOE Policy 2023 represents a critical step towards restructuring and modernizing our state-owned enterprises and economy.

To recall, during a meeting of CCoSOE on September 29, 2023, the interim finance minister underlined that the CCoSOE and the Central Monitoring Unit have to play a major role in ensuring the business plans of the SOEs are in line with the sectoral priorities.
