October 10, 2018 (MLN): Pakistan’s Automotive Industry has sold a total of 16,957 units of passenger cars during September 2018, as compared to a sale of 15,639 units during previous year and 15,389 units during the previous month.
According to the official numbers released by Pakistan Automotive Manufacturing Authority (PAMA), the largest sales have been made in the 1300 CC and above category, that of 8,963 units against sale of 8,028 units during August 2018.
The announcement divulges that the total number of trucks sold during the month have dropped from 615 units last month to 539 units, while sales of trucks during the corresponding period of prior year stood at a total of 752 units.
During the month, a total of 611 jeeps were sold whereas 696 jeeps were sold during the preceding month and 917 units were sold during September 2017.
Tractors on the other hand reported a sale of 5,818 units in September 2018, up by 1,777 units over the month and down by 135 units over the year.
Among all vehicles, the sales of the largest magnitude were made in the two wheeler and three wheeler category. Around 163.7 thousand units of motorcycles and three wheelers were sold during the month, 16.7% higher than the sales made during previous month and around 12% higher than that made during the corresponding period of prior year.
