Branded Ghee, cooking oil prices down by Rs60, Rs37 at utility stores

June 14, 2023 (MLN): In a significant development, the utility stores across the country have witnessed a significant decline in the prices of branded ghee and cooking oil.

According to the latest notification issued, the price of branded ghee has decreased by Rs60 per kilogram, while cooking oil has been reduced by Rs37 to Rs59 per litre.

This reduction indicates that the high base effect is kicking in and CPI inflation might cool down as most experts believe.

Notably, the imports of palm oil dropped by 24.95% to 172,534 (quantity) in April as compared to 229,894 in March 2023.

Similarly, the imports of soyabean oil also dropped by a substantial 77.65% MoM to 7,350 in April as compared to 32,900 in the previous month.
