Banks’ deposits fall over Rs500bn in July

Banks’ deposits edge up to Rs30.71tr in August

August 16, 2024 (MLN): The total deposits held by scheduled banks have decreased by Rs518 billion or 1.7% to Rs30.6 trillion in July 2024 compared to last month, data released by the SBP showed.

On a yearly basis, deposits have moved up by 19.1% compared to Rs25.7tr in July 2023.

Total advances decreased by 0.22% to Rs11.87tr compared to Rs11.9tr from a year ago. On a monthly basis, advances decreased by 4.53% from their value of Rs12.43tr in June 2024.

Advances to Deposit Ratio (ADR) stood at 38.79% showing a decrease of 750 bps on a yearly basis, and a decrease of 116 bps on a monthly basis.

Total Investments of Scheduled Banks stood at Rs30.43tr compared to Rs21.47tr from a year ago and Rs30.17tr from a month ago, showing a YoY increase of 41.75% and a MoM increase of 0.86%.

Investment to Deposit Ratio (IDR) moved up by 1,591 bps to 99.44% compared to July 2023 and increased by 249 bps when compared to a month ago.
