Auto Industry sells 10,123 units of passenger cars in July

August 11, 2020 (MLN): The sale of passenger cars during the month of July 2020 was recorded at 10,123 units against a total production of 8,280 units, which is around 7.7 percent lower as compared to the 10,968 units sold in the same month of last year.

According to a monthly report released by Pakistan Automotive Manufacturer's Association (PAMA), the Maximum number of sales were made within the '1300 cc and Above' category at 5,803 units. Within this category, Honda Cars recorded the highest sales at 2,210 units, followed by Toyota Yaris, Toyota Corolla, and Suzuki Swift which sold 1,883, 1,528, and 182 units, respectively.

The second-highest number of sales were made within the 'Below 1000cc' category at 2,677 units. Within this category, Suzuki Alto recorded the highest sales at 2,158 units, followed by Suzuki Bolan which sold 519 units. No sales for Suzuki Mehran were seen during the month.

On the contrary, the '1000 cc' category witnessed a sale of 1,643 units during the month. wherein Suzuki Cultus recorded the highest sales at 1,077 units, followed by Suzuki WagonR that sold 566 units.

The total number of trucks sold during the year stood at 218 units, which translates into a decline of 46.4 percent as compared to the previous year. Isuzu emerged as the best-selling truck, with sales of around 109 units during the year, with MASTER following the lead with sales of 68 units.

The overall sale of buses was recorded at 37 units, which signifies a decline of 68.6 percent as compared to the previous year. Within this segment, Hino made the maximum sales at 16 units, while Master took the second spot by selling around 15 units during the period under review.
