Agriculture machinery imports grew by 4.21% in 8 months

April 1, 2019: The imports of agriculture machinery into the country during first 8 months of current financial year increased by 4.21 percent as compared the imports of the corresponding period of last year.

During the period from July-February, 2018-19, agriculture machinery worth US$ 89.698 million imported as compared the imports of US$ 86.078 million of same period last year, according the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

However, imports of other machinery relating to agriculture witnessed about 8.11 percent reduction during the period under review as it came down from US$ 2.322 billion of first 8 months of last fiscal year to US$ 2.134 billion of same period of current financial year, it added.

Meanwhile, imports of agriculture chemicals grew by 3.81 percent, fertilizers 14.01 percent insecticides 11.27 percent and medical products by 10.51 percent, it added.

During last eight months of current financial year, agricultural and other chemicals worth US$5887 billion imported as compared US$ 5.862 billion of same period last year.

About 1, 575,836 metric tons of fertilizers manufactured worth US$ 665.050 million imported as compered the imports of 1,546,456 metric tons valuing US$ 583.455 million of same period of last year.

Country imported 19,789 metric tons of insecticides valuing US$ 119.2488 million as compared the imports of 17,040 metric tons of US$ 107.172 million of same period of last year.

However, on month month basis, during February, 2019 imports of agriculture machinery into the country reduced by 5.88 percent as agri-machinery worth US$ 11.774 million imported as compared the import of US$ 12.510 million of same month of last year.
