November 07, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan received $3.42bn in worker remittances during October 2025, marking an 11.9% year-on-year (YoY) increase from $3.05bn in October 2024 and a 7.4% rise month-on-month (MoM) from $3.18bn in September 2025, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) reported on Friday.

Cumulatively, inflows during the first four months of FY26 (July–October) stood at $12.95bn, reflecting a 9.3% YoY increase from $11.85bn in the same period last year.

The growth was led by robust inflows from Saudi Arabia, which contributed $820.9m, followed by the United Arab Emirates with $697.7m, including $553.3m from Dubai and $117.6m from Abu Dhabi.

Remittances from the United Kingdom stood at $487.7m, while European Union countries collectively sent $457.4m, led by Italy ($153.5m), Germany ($70.8m), and Spain ($72.4m). The United States remained a key corridor with $290m in inflows.

Among other destinations, Other GCC countries contributed $342.2m, including inflows from Oman ($122.2m), Qatar ($97.4m), and Kuwait ($74.9m). Meanwhile, remittances from Australia ($87.8m), Canada ($68.5m), South Africa ($24m), and Malaysia ($13.9m) also supported overall growth.

The continued rise in remittances reflects overseas Pakistanis’ strong support through formal banking channels, aided by improved digital transfer systems and exchange rate stability.

The higher remittance inflows are expected to ease pressure on Pakistan’s external account and support foreign exchange reserves, providing relief amid elevated import needs and external debt repayments.
