September 30, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan's National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) welcomed high-level parliamentary and state delegations from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan at the National Emergencies Operations Center (NEOC) in Islamabad, marking a significant step in regional disaster management collaboration.
The Uzbek parliamentary delegation, Mr. Nuriddin
Ismoilov, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, visited NDMA
headquarters to explore Pakistan's disaster response framework and emergency
preparedness systems.
The delegation included senior parliamentary officials:
Mr. Maksudbek Kurbonboyev, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Budget and
Economic Affairs; Mr. Bakhtiyor Pulatov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on
Ecology and Environmental Protection; Ms. Sevara Ubaydullayeva; Mr. Navruzbek
Yusupov; Mr. Azizjon Aloev; and Mr. Jakhongir Tuychiev.
A 20-member state-level delegation from Kazakhstan, led
by Mr. Gizet Nurdauletov, Secretary of the Security Council, accompanied by
Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Pakistan H.E. Yerzhan Kistafin, also attended the
briefing sessions at NEOC.
Chairman NDMA, Lt General Inam Haider Malik, delivered
comprehensive presentations on Pakistan's national disaster risk reduction
strategies and technological integration in emergency response systems.
The briefings covered key areas including Pakistan's
comprehensive approach to minimizing disaster impacts through national disaster
risk reduction strategies, inter-provincial coordination mechanisms during
Monsoon 2025 flood operations, and the integration of advanced technology
systems such as the National Common Operating Picture (NCOP) and Global Common
Operating Picture (GCOP).
The presentations also highlighted disaster early warning
systems (DEW) that provide advanced alert mechanisms for timely response, risk
communication protocols for effective public information dissemination during
emergencies, and ongoing relief and response operations across flood-affected
regions throughout the country.
The NDMA team highlighted Pakistan's role in
international disaster relief assistance and its commitment to regional
cooperation through Comprehensive International Simulation Exercises (CISE)
conducted with Central Asian countries, including both Uzbekistan and
Kazakhstan.
These exercises facilitate knowledge sharing and
implementation of global best practices in disaster preparedness and response
across the region.
Both delegations commended NDMA's proactive disaster
management initiatives, resilience-building measures, and modern technological
preparedness mechanisms.
The visiting dignitaries emphasized the critical
importance of enhanced bilateral cooperation in disaster risk management,
regional capacity building programs, exchange of technical expertise and best
practices, and collaborative approaches to climate change adaptation.
These high-level visits emphasize the strengthening
partnership between Central Asian nations and Pakistan in addressing shared
challenges posed by natural disasters and climate change impacts through mutual
support and collaborative frameworks.
The meetings at NEOC demonstrate the region's commitment to building comprehensive disaster preparedness capabilities and fostering knowledge exchange among neighboring countries facing similar environmental challenges.
