Trump declares official end to 12-day war

June 24, 2025 (MLN): U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday confirmed that a ceasefire between Iran and Israel is “NOW IN EFFECT,” following a series of final missile exchanges between the two nations.

“The CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT. PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT!” Trump declared on his social media platform, Truth Social.

He earlier outlined that the truce would follow a phased process over 24 hours, starting at approximately 0400 GMT Tuesday, with Iran halting its operations first, followed by Israel 12 hours later.

Prior to the ceasefire taking effect, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi expressed gratitude to Iran’s armed forces, stating they “punished Israel for its aggression until the very last minute, at 4am.”

In a message posted on X, Araghchi wrote, “Together with all Iranians, I thank our brave Armed Forces who remain ready to defend our dear country until their last drop of blood, and who responded to any attack by the enemy until the very last minute.”

Trump had initially announced the ceasefire on Monday, calling it a complete truce between Israel and Iran that could mark the end of the 12-day conflict.

However, no official confirmation came from the Israeli side.

In the early hours of Tuesday, Israel’s military reported two rounds of missile launches from Iran.

Explosions were later heard near Tel Aviv and Beersheba, where Israeli media confirmed a building was hit and three people were killed in the Beersheba strike.

The missile exchanges followed a weekend of heightened tensions, during which Israel, supported by the United States, carried out strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, accusing Tehran of moving dangerously close to acquiring a nuclear weapon.

Applauding both sides for reaching the ceasefire, Trump wrote, “On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both Countries, Israel and Iran, on having the Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence to end, what should be called, ‘THE 12 DAY WAR.’”

As the deadline approached, both nations unleashed missiles, marking a dramatic close to hostilities just before the ceasefire came into force.
