Textile exports rise 4% YoY to $1.6bn in July

August 19, 2026 (MLN): Textile exports rose 3.91% year-on-year (YoY) to $1.64bn in July, driven by growth in knitwear and readymade garments,  data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) showed.

On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, textile exports increased by 4.99% compared to $1.56bn in June 2026.

The total exports as per the Balance of Payments (BOP) for July stood at $3.01bn, up 9.38% YoY compared to $2.75bn in July 2025, and rose 16.91% MoM.

Textile Group products remained the major exportable goods for Pakistan in July, accounting for 54.36% of total exports. Key contributing products under the textile head were Knitwear ($441.43mn), Readymade Garments ($403.55mn), and Bed Wear ($281.28mn).

Knitwear exports rose by 4.96%, while Readymade Garments exports increased by 6.06%. However, inflows through Bed Wear declined by 6.19%.

The Food group remained the second-largest contributor to total exports, with the export value of this group standing at $452.14mn, up 7.96% YoY compared to $418.81mn in July 2025. On a monthly basis, food group exports rose 1.89% MoM compared to $443.74mn in June 2026.

Rice remained the group's major source of foreign exchange earnings, with export value in July standing at $211.99mn, marking an increase of 0.79% MoM and 38.73% YoY.

The export of Oil Seeds, Nuts and Kernels stood at $15.29mn in July, rising by 110.86% YoY and 31.07% MoM compared to $7.25mn in July 2025 and $22.19mn in June 2026, respectively.

Meanwhile, exports of surgical goods and medical instruments grew by 16.26% YoY to $43.76mn.

Exports of leather manufactures also saw a positive trend, increasing by 7.77% YoY to $61.21mn in July 2026.

Similarly, foreign earnings from sports goods increased by 1.93% YoY to $39.31mn in July 2026, though they fell 9.16% MoM compared to $43.27mn in June 2026.

Inflows through chemical and pharmaceutical products fell 2.87% YoY to $120.49mn in July 2026, compared to $124.06mn in the same period last year (SPLY).

The Petroleum group's share in the country's total export basket stood at 2.97% in July, with the country earning $89.28mn from petroleum exports, up 44.65% YoY.
