August 28, 2026 (MLN): The Government of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia's Asyad Group have signalled deeper investment cooperation, with the Asyad Group outlining plans to expand its Pakistan footprint across energy, aviation and finance, including growth at Wafi Energy Pakistan Limited, a potential bid for the upcoming airport privatisation, and fresh interest in the financial sector.
The development came during a meeting between Federal
Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb and Ghassan Ahmed
Amodi, Chief Executive Officer of Asyad Group and Chairperson of the Wafi
Energy Pakistan Limited Board of Directors, who was accompanied by Javaid
Akhtar, Group CFO of Asyad Group and Board Member of Wafi Energy Pakistan
Limited; Zubair Shaikh, CEO of Wafi Energy Pakistan Limited; and Imran Hussain
Qureshi, Corporate and Government Relations Director at Wafi Energy Pakistan Limited.
The meeting reviewed the Asyad Group's existing
investment portfolio in Pakistan and discussed prospects for expansion across
key sectors, said a press release issued.
Ghassan Amodi reaffirmed Asyad Group's long-term
commitment to Pakistan, calling the country an important part of the Group's
portfolio outside Saudi Arabia and expressing satisfaction with its experience
thus far.
He briefed the minister on the Group's interest in the
upcoming airport privatisation process, noting efforts to bring together Saudi
and international partners with relevant technical expertise, and shared recent
developments in the Group's broader airport operations internationally.
On the energy side, Wafi Energy Pakistan Limited briefed
the Finance Minister on its ongoing expansion plans, including growth in its
retail network, storage infrastructure and digitalisation initiatives, along
with investments underway in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other parts of the country.
Ghassan Amodi also flagged the Group's interest in
exploring additional opportunities in Pakistan's financial sector and in
bringing together further Saudi and Pakistani investors for potential joint
projects.
Senator Aurangzeb apprised the delegation of Pakistan's
progress toward macroeconomic stability, citing improvement in key economic
indicators and the country's sovereign credit profile, and reiterated the
government's focus on fiscal discipline and structural reforms to build an
enabling environment for sustainable, private-sector-led growth.
He also highlighted Pakistan's strategic location as a
potential gateway to regional markets and encouraged continued collaboration
with the private sector to convert investment interest into tangible projects.
The minister appreciated Asyad Group's continued
confidence in Pakistan, assuring the delegation of the government's support for
investors and its commitment to strengthening private-sector participation.
Ghassan Amodi, in turn, welcomed the government's engagement and reaffirmed the Asyad Group's intent to deepen investment ties and strengthen the broader economic and commercial partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Khurram Schehzad, Advisor to the Finance Minister, described the development on X as a fresh signal of growing Saudi private-sector confidence in Pakistan's economic turnaround and investment potential, with the Group viewing Pakistan as a strategic long-term investment destination.
