SECP unveils Statutory Compliance Certificate

June 01, 2026 (MLN): The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has introduced a new ‘Certificate of Statutory Compliance’ framework aimed at promoting corporate transparency, according to a notification issued by the regulator.
Under the framework, companies will be issued a formal
certificate confirming their regulatory compliance status.
The certificate will verify a company's registration,
operational status, and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
The SECP stated that the compliance certificate is
expected to support Pakistani companies in establishing international
partnerships and business engagements by providing an official confirmation of
their compliance standing.
According to the regulator, companies that are inactive,
under investigation, or have incomplete records will not be eligible to receive
the certificate.
Companies that have not completed their statutory return
filings will also be ineligible.
Applications for the compliance certificate will be
submitted to the SECP’s Registrar of Companies.
