SECP makes stock market investing faster with digital onboarding

August 28, 2026 (MLN): The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has introduced a new digital onboarding framework to make investing in the stock market easier, faster and more accessible.

Under the new framework, facilitation accounts will be opened within one day, while a decision on investor account applications will be made within two days. Investors will also be able to track the status of their applications through a tracking ID.

The framework will enable 24/7 digital onboarding and processing. Brokers will be required to provide written reasons for rejecting an account opening application, while previously verified investors will not need to undergo verification again.

The SECP aims to increase the number of investors to 2.5 million, with greater participation of young people in the stock market remaining a key priority.

SECP Chairman Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu said that technology is being used to make stock market investment easier, adding that Pakistan’s capital market offers vast opportunities for growth and investment.
