SBP reserves dip by $106mn

October 6, 2022 (MLN): The foreign exchange reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) during the week ended on Sep 30 declined by $106 million to $7.9 billion, latest data released by the central bank showed on Thursday.

“During the week ended on Sep 30, 2022, the SBP’s reserves decreased by $106mn to $7.9mn due to external debt repayment which includes interest payments on Eurobonds,” the SBP said.

Meanwhile, the reserves held by the commercial banks also decreased by $67mn to $5.7bn compared to week ended on Sep 23, 2022.

Overall, the total foreign exchange reserves held by the country fell by $173mn to $13.6bn.
