SBP receives $1.3bn from IMF under EFF, RSF programs

May 13, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan has received around $1.3 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) following the completion of the third review under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and the approval of the second tranche under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF), the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said today.

According to the central bank, the IMF Executive Board, in its meeting held on May 8, 2026, approved the disbursement of SDR 760 million under the EFF program. In addition, the Board also approved the release of SDR 154 million under the RSF arrangement.

Consequently, SBP has received a total of SDR 914 million, equivalent to approximately $1.3 billion, from the IMF with a value date May 12, 2026.

The central bank said the inflows will be reflected in SBP’s foreign exchange reserves for the week ending May 15, 2026.

The latest inflow is expected to provide further support to Pakistan’s external account position and strengthen the country’s foreign exchange reserves amid ongoing economic stabilization efforts.
