August 15, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan’s diplomatic missions around the world marked the country’s 78th Independence Day with flag-hoisting ceremonies, cultural performances, and tributes to national heroes, reaffirming commitment to the ideals of freedom and unity.

From Kabul to Washington, London to Beijing, envoys, community leaders, and expatriates gathered to honour the sacrifices of freedom fighters and martyrs.

In Kabul, the Embassy of Pakistan also commemorated Maarka-e-Haq, paying homage to the valor of those who defended the nation.

Ambassador Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani lauded the armed forces’ role in repelling what he described as India’s “naked aggression,” linking the recent battlefield success to Pakistan’s long-standing pledge to safeguard its geographic and ideological frontiers.

He paid tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the heroes of the independence movement, while underscoring continued support for Kashmiris in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Similar sentiments were echoed in other capitals, with ambassadors delivering messages of solidarity and national pride.

In London, High Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Faisal presided over a flag-hoisting ceremony marking both the 78th anniversary of independence and the success of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos.

He praised the unity shown by Pakistan’s founders and drew a parallel to the country’s recent military operations. Addressing British Pakistanis, Faisal emphasized diaspora engagement in economic development, informed that Pakistan International Airlines would resume UK flights and launched a Pakistan-UK trade dialogue initiative.

The Embassy of Pakistan in Washington D.C., marked the 79th Independence Day and Marka-e-Haq victory with a flag-hoisting ceremony attended by the Pakistani American community, officials and media.

Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh highlighted Pakistan’s historic struggle, reaffirmed the two-nation theory, and praised the armed forces for their triumph in Operation Bunyan-al-Marsoos.

He stressed the need for economic strength as key to national defense, noting recent improvements in reserves, current account surplus, inflation and international credit ratings under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Ambassador Sheikh called Pakistan-U.S. relations “an imperative” and urged the diaspora to strengthen bilateral ties.

The event featured patriotic songs, messages from U.S. Congress members, and a traditional Pakistani breakfast.

In Moscow, Ambassador Muhammad Khalid Jamali hosted a more subdued ceremony reading leadership messages before reaffirming Pakistan’s intent to deepen ties with Russia.

The event featured music, a history quiz for children, and participation from community leaders and business representatives.

In Paris, Pakistan’s Independence Day on August 14 was marked with celebrations led by Ambassador Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, blending cultural performances with political messaging.

She paid tribute to the nation’s founders, acknowledged contributors to Pakistan’s progress, and linked recent military successes to renewed national pride.

In Dhaka, High Commissioner-designate Imran Haider linked the success in Maarka-e-Haq to the Two-Nation Theory, describing it as a strategic milestone that reinforced Pakistan’s sovereignty.

He reiterated moral, political, and diplomatic support for Kashmiris, and honored forefathers’ sacrifices.

In Abu Dhabi, Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi framed the military successes as proof of “unshakable national will.”

He spotlighted the UAE-based Pakistani community’s $7.9 billion in remittances last year, announced an online passport and NICOP tracking system, and highlighted improved rankings for community schools.

Tirmizi also noted that this year’s Dubai Expo City Independence Day event drew an unprecedented 60,000 attendees, the largest such celebration worldwide.

Across the globe, Pakistan’s diplomatic missions blended ceremonial flag hoistings with political messaging, underscoring themes of unity, resilience, and military strength.

In each capital, officials pledged unwavering backing for Kashmiris, celebrated recent military victories, and urged diaspora communities to remain engaged in Pakistan’s political, economic, and social trajectory.
