Aurangzeb briefs Fitch on FY2026 financing, IMF progress

April 16, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan engaged with Fitch Ratings as Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb minister appreciated Fitch’s continued engagement with Pakistan’s credit profile and acknowledged its recent assessment.

He held a constructive meeting with the agency on the sidelines of the World Bank–IMF Spring Meetings in Washington, D.C, according to a press release issued.

He highlighted that a staff-level agreement had been reached with the International Monetary Fund for the third review under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and the second review under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF).

Finance minister Aurangzeb further noted that Pakistan has secured external financing arrangements to meet its fiscal year 2026 obligations.

He also outlined the government’s strategy to maintain a strong presence in international capital markets through diversified instruments, including Panda Bonds, Eurobonds, international Sukuk, and ESG-linked bonds.
