September 25, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan's pharmaceutical industry achieved a significant milestone as exports reached a record $457 million, representing the highest achievement in two decades with a remarkable 34% growth, officials announced at the 8th Pakistan Pharma Summit held at Serena Hotel.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Industries
and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, served as Chief Guest at the summit and
addressed participants at both the main event and the accompanying Pharma
Export Awards Ceremony.2
Speaking to industry leaders and international experts, SAPM
Khan emphasized that industrial policy and regulatory reforms represent the
cornerstone of Pakistan's economic future. He highlighted the pharmaceutical
sector's crucial role in serving the healthcare needs of Pakistan's 250m
citizens.
"The government stands firmly with the pharmaceutical
industry," Khan stated. "Our policies are aimed at strengthening the
sector while ensuring the availability of affordable and quality medicines for
the people."
The summit featured the presentation of Pharma Export
Awards, honoring the country's top 50 pharmaceutical exporters for their
outstanding contributions to the sector. Khan praised these companies as
"Pakistan's ambassadors, promoting the country's name across the
globe."
The recognition ceremony celebrated the exporters' role in
not only boosting the national economy but also projecting a positive image of
Pakistan in international markets.
The SAPM stressed the importance of international
collaboration, noting that the participation of global experts in the summit
would strengthen partnerships for Pakistan's pharmaceutical industry. He called
for the adoption of international best practices and standards to enhance the
sector's global competitiveness.
"Pakistan has the potential to secure a prominent place
in the global healthcare market," Khan remarked, expressing confidence in
the industry's future prospects.
The 34% growth in pharmaceutical exports represents a
significant achievement for Pakistan's industrial sector, demonstrating the
effectiveness of current policies and the industry's resilience. The
record-breaking export figures signal strong international demand for Pakistani
pharmaceutical products.
With government backing and a clear focus on quality and
affordability, Pakistan's pharmaceutical industry appears well-positioned to
build on this momentum and achieve even greater success in global markets.
