Pakistan, UAE agree to expand trade, investment cooperation

December 23, 2025 (MLN):  Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations, with a particular focus on expanding economic cooperation, trade, and investment across key sectors.

 During a meeting held in Islamabad, both sides emphasized the depth of their longstanding and brotherly ties and agreed to explore new avenues of collaboration to support mutual growth and development.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif received Salem Mohammed Salem Al Bawab Al Zaabi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Pakistan, at the Prime Minister House, according to a press release issued.

The Prime Minister was assisted by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi and Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister warmly welcomed the UAE envoy and congratulated him on his recent appointment, expressing appreciation for the strong bonds of friendship, mutual respect, and close cooperation that have characterized Pakistan-UAE relations for decades.

He also conveyed his best wishes for the UAE leadership and said he looked forward to the upcoming visit of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, to Pakistan.

The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over the volume of bilateral trade and emphasized the need to further enhance cooperation in areas such as energy, minerals, information technology, railways, and aviation.

He invited increased UAE investment in key sectors to support Pakistan’s economic growth and stability, while acknowledging the UAE’s consistent support for Pakistan, including humanitarian assistance and development projects.

Ambassador Al Zaabi thanked the Prime Minister for the warm reception and conveyed the greetings and best wishes of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

He reaffirmed the UAE’s strong commitment to deepening its partnership with Pakistan across all spheres and assured that he would work to identify new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation.
