Pakistan, Saudi Arabia coordinate on regional tensions

March 30, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan reaffirmed its full and unwavering support for Saudi Arabia amid the ongoing Middle East crisis, with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif assuring Riyadh that Islamabad will always stand “shoulder to shoulder” with the Kingdom.

The development came during a meeting at the Prime Minister House with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, according to the press release.

The Prime Minister was assisted by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, National Security Advisor Lt. Gen.

Muhammad Asim Malik, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif conveyed his respectful regards to The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and extended warm greetings to Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia.

Prime Minister Sharif highlighted Pakistan’s extensive diplomatic outreach during the current crisis, including mediation efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and bringing the United States and Iran back to the negotiating table.

He also recalled his recent conversations with Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman, including their meeting in Jeddah on March 12, 2026.

Emphasizing the Kingdom’s leadership role in the Muslim Ummah, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of forging unity among Islamic countries at this critical time.

The Saudi Foreign Minister thanked the Prime Minister for receiving him and shared Riyadh’s latest perspective on the regional situation.

Both sides agreed to continue closely coordinating their positions to secure peace and stability in the region.
