October 16, 2026 (MLN): Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Aurangzeb, has discussed capital market reforms and its prospects for emerging market status with Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI), with the talks clarifying repatriation arrangements under the Special Convertible Rupee Account (SCRA) and expanded access to Roshan Digital Account, and both sides backing technical follow-up to ease operational concerns.

Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb met MSCI representatives on the sidelines of the World Bank Group-IMF Annual Meetings 2026, according to a press release issued.

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor accompanied him.

The minister pointed to Pakistan’s improving economic indicators and rising participation in the stock market.

The discussions also covered MSCI’s classification criteria and investor queries on foreign exchange, prefunding, hedging and pooled investments.

Participants supported technical follow-up to address operational concerns and make the market easier for investors to access.
