November 03, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan and Kazakhstan have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral economic relations, increasing trade and exploring new investment opportunities.

Both sides stressed the importance of stronger connectivity, effective implementation of existing agreements and greater private-sector engagement to turn the potential of their relations into concrete economic partnerships.

The commitment was voiced during a meeting between Qaiser Ahmad Sheikh and Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister Sirjan Zhomangarin, said a press release issued.

Qaiser Ahmad Sheikh stressed the need to promote business-to-business (B2B) cooperation, deepen private-sector engagement and improve banking channels to facilitate trade and investment.

He pointed to opportunities in e-commerce, warehousing, textiles and mining, and said Kazakhstan’s affordable energy could draw Pakistani investment into the textile sector.

Referring to the Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed during President Asif Ali Zardari’s visit to Kazakhstan in February, Sheikh underlined the need for their early implementation so that commitments translate into tangible economic benefits.

The Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister conveyed his wish for Pakistan’s Prime Minister to visit Kazakhstan and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to stronger bilateral ties. He stressed the need to raise bilateral trade and said a five-year roadmap has been prepared to advance cooperation.

He said Pakistan’s market of around 250mn people offers significant opportunities for Kazakhstan, while Pakistan can use Kazakhstan as a gateway to the wider Eurasian market.

He also highlighted the need for direct air connectivity between the two countries to facilitate business, trade and people-to-people exchanges.

He added that Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister will visit Pakistan to attend the preparatory meeting for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
