Pakistan, Bangladesh explore cooperation in pharma, agriculture, healthcare

September 14, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan and Bangladesh have discussed expanding bilateral cooperation across healthcare, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, science and technology and other sectors as both sides seek to build on improving relations.

Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider held a meeting with Bangladesh President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in Dhaka, where the two sides discussed opportunities for deeper bilateral engagement, said a press release issued.

The High Commissioner highlighted growing medical tourism from Bangladesh to Pakistan, while Pakistani health professionals are training Bangladeshi counterparts in organ transplantation to help develop local capacity and reduce treatment costs.

Under the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor, around 200 Bangladeshi students have enrolled in Pakistani universities, while training programmes are also being arranged for Bangladeshi civil servants.

The two sides also discussed direct air connectivity, with growing demand for additional flight frequencies and new routes.

The Bangladeshi President said enhanced connectivity would be important for strengthening business, cultural and people-to-people contacts.

Both sides agreed to build on the existing momentum and strengthen bilateral ties through sustained engagement.
