Pakistan BCI decreases by 2.1 points in September

September 16, 2025 (MLN): The overall Business Confidence Index (BCI) decreased by 2.1 points, reaching 55.6 in September 2025, according to the latest results of the Business Confidence Survey (BCS).

This was conducted by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) in collaboration with the Institute of Business Administration (IBA).

The industry sector had a notable decline of 2.6 points in its Business Confidence Index (BCI), bringing it down to 55.3. Meanwhile, the Services sector also saw a dip, with its BCI edging down by 2 points to 55.6.

The headline index “Overall Business Confidence” is comprised of two sub-indices: the Current Business Confidence Index (CBCI) and the Expected Business Confidence Index (EBCI).

Current Business Confidence

The CBCI, which shows business sentiment over the month, fell by 0.9 points to 54.4 in September 2025.

Expected Business Confidence

EBCI, which represents expectations for the next six months, decline by 3.5 points to 56.6.

Inflation Expectations

The Inflation Expectations (IE) of businesses increased by 2.1 points to 11.7, with the industry sector experiencing a rise by 3.7 points to 71.8.

Employment

Expected Employment Index decreased by 1.2 points to 56.1.

Capacity Utilization

The Average Current Capacity Utilization (ACCU) in the Manufacturing sector increased by 1.7 to 66.2%
