May 12, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan and Iran have agreed to form a high-level joint committee of health experts from both countries to identify collaborative projects and explore new areas of cooperation in the health sector, with a focus on pharmaceuticals, vaccine manufacturing and other medical fields.

Pak-Iran health ties took a significant step forward as Federal Minister for Health Syed Mustafa Kamal met Iranian Ambassador Dr. Reza Amiri Moqadam in Islamabad, APP reported.

The minister announced that Pakistan would nominate the CEO of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan, the CEO of the National Institute of Health and the Joint Secretary (Admin) to the committee, while Iran would also name its representatives.

The Iranian ambassador reaffirmed Tehran's keen interest in expanding public health cooperation with Islamabad, and both sides acknowledged the longstanding brotherly relations between the two nations.
