June 23, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index kicked off Monday’s trading session on a negative note, opening at 118,031.71 with a decline of 1,991.52 points or 1.66%.

At the start of the session, the index traded within a range of 307.15 points, recording a low of 117,987.14 (-2,036.09) points.

The total volume for the KSE-100 Index stood at 4.76 million shares.

This bearish momentum comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions after the United States launched airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, escalating the Iran-Israel conflict and triggering fears of regional instability.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office strongly condemned the attacks, warning they risk plunging the Middle East into a broader war and urged all parties to return to dialogue.

Echoing this stance, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a telephone call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, reiterated Pakistan’s condemnation of the strikes, voiced concern over attacks on IAEA-monitored sites, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with Iran.

He stressed the urgent need for de-escalation and diplomacy, and expressed Pakistan’s readiness to play a constructive role in promoting peace.
