PSX Closing Bell: Momentum Hits a Wall

December 10, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Wednesday's trading session at 169,451.86, showing a decrease of 4.52 points.

The index traded in a range of 1,458.51 points showing an intraday high of 170,697.74 (+1,241.36) and a low of 169,239.23 (-217.15) points.

The benchmark KSE-100 Index surged past the 170,000 mark in early trade, lifted by improved investor sentiment following the IMF’s fresh approval for Pakistan’s next loan disbursement.

The clarity on the economic front helped fuel strong buying interest across key sectors.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 497.18 million shares.

 

Of the 100 index companies 51 closed up, 48 closed down, while 1 were unchanged.

Top losers during the day were SRVI (-8.15%), HUMNL (-2.78%), PGLC (-2.56%), PTC (-2.52%), and PPL (-1.53%).

On the other hand, top gainers were ISL (+10.00%), MLCF (+10.00%), DHPL (+7.31%), FFL (+6.64%), and GHGL (+5.98%).

 

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were FFC (-188.27pts), SRVI (-116.63pts), PPL (-76.06pts), ENGROH (-75.07pts), and HUBC (-68.59pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were MLCF (+177.89pts), LUCK (+169.89pts), ISL (+56.16pts), FCCL (+52.58pts), and DHPL (+51.70pts).

 

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Fertilizer (-232.53pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-174.60pts), Leather & Tanneries (-116.63pts), Technology & Communication (-105.16pts), and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (-62.44pts).

While the index was supported by Cement (+538.37pts), Textile Composite (+70.33pts), Engineering (+66.48pts), Glass & Ceramics (+41.49pts), and Commercial Banks (+28.97pts).

 

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 102,554.80 with a net gain of 76.23 points or 0.07%.

Total market volume was 1,190.53 million shares compared to 1,031.80m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs50.49 billion showing a decrease of Rs0.82bn.

There were 483,194 trades reported in 478 companies with 251 closing up, 188 closing down, and 39 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 43,825 points or 34.88% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 54,325 points or 47.19% so far this calendar year.
