PSX Closing Bell: Losing Ground

October 16, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Thursday's trading session at 164,444.71, showing a decrease of 1,241.67 points or 0.75%.

The index traded in a range of 2,603.24 points showing an intraday high of 166,864.89 (+1,178.51) and a low of 164,261.65 (-1,424.73) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 1,390.47 million shares, which is the highest traded volume in history of PSX.

The top trading companies were K-Electric and World Call Telecom.

 

Of the 100 index companies 32 closed up, 67 closed down, while 1 were unchanged.

Top losers during the day were INIL (-3.26%), SYS (-3.02%), BAFL (-2.95%), ENGROH (-2.50%), and ISL (-2.48%).

On the other hand, top gainers were HMB (+4.19%), PSX (+3.85%), PSEL (+3.80%), CNERGY (+2.21%), and GLAXO (+2.05%).

 

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were ENGROH (-197.66pts), SYS (-155.34pts), FFC (-122.72pts), EFERT (-93.42pts), and BAHL (-89.08pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were HMB (+77.74pts), UBL (+54.74pts), HUBC (+33.54pts), PPL (+33.03pts), and PSEL (+32.53pts).

 

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Commercial Banks (-334.39pts), Fertilizer (-228.52pts), Technology & Communication (-178.57pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-175.50pts), and Cement (-114.86pts).

While the index was supported by Pharmaceuticals (+38.59pts), Power Generation & Distribution (+33.70pts), Miscellaneous (+31.18pts), Refinery (+4.08pts), and Transport (+4.08pts).

 

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 52,349.82 with a net loss of 407.48 points or 0.77%.

Total market volume was 3,078.37 million shares compared to 1,528.36m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs50.61 billion showing a decrease of Rs18.00bn.

There were 475,307 trades reported in 484 companies with 174 closing up, 269 closing down, and 41 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 38,817 points or 30.90% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 49,318 points or 42.84% so far this calendar year.
