PSX Closing Bell: Green by a Hair

June 17, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a volatile session on Wednesday as investors opted for profit-taking following the strong gains recorded over the previous two trading sessions.

The benchmark KSE-100 Index managed to close in positive territory, adding 118.05 points, or 0.07%, to settle at 180,511.02 points.

The index traded in a range of 1,793.54 points showing an intraday high of 181,357.70 (+964.73) and a low of 179,564.16 (-828.81) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 526.92 million shares.

 

Of the 100 index companies 47 closed up, 53 closed down.

Top gainers during the day were FATIMA (+9.78%), SHFA (+8.66%), FHAM (+6.15%), MTL (+5.81%), and SSOM (+4.78%).

On the other hand, top losers were IBFL (-3.76%), TGL (-2.36%), GHGL (-2.34%), PSX (-2.28%), and UBL (-2.03%).

 

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were FATIMA (+159.38pts), PPL (+156.60pts), OGDC (+144.37pts), MTL (+108.15pts), and SHFA (+42.87pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were UBL (-282.87pts), MEBL (-133.47pts), HUBC (-127.90pts), FFC (-81.08pts), and MCB (-27.27pts).

 

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+299.29pts), Fertilizer (+122.37pts), Automobile Assembler (+110.23pts), Cement (+96.33pts), and Miscellaneous (+44.42pts).

While the index was let down by Commercial Banks (-455.27pts), Power Generation & Distribution (-100.51pts), Technology & Communication (-34.88pts), Pharmaceuticals (-33.17pts), and Glass & Ceramics (-22.60pts).

 

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 108,555.87 with a net gain of 391.07 points or 0.36%.

Total market volume was 1,230.54 million shares compared to 1,224.40m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs69.22 billion showing a decrease of Rs1.00bn.

There were 585,736 trades reported in 495 companies with 206 closing up, 259 closing down, and 30 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 54,884 points or 43.69% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 6,457 points or 3.71% so far this calendar year.
