PSX Closing Bell: Dancing on a Tightrope

August 08, 2025 (MLN): The PSX update today shows that the benchmark KSE-100 Index performance concluded Friday's trading session at 145,382.79, reflecting a decrease of 264.34 points or 0.18%.

The Pakistani equity market today traded within a range of 1,896.25 points, with an intraday high of 146,813.43 (+1,166.30) and a low of 144,917.18 (-729.95) points.

Overall, the PSX market outlook indicates a total volume of 276.74 million

Of the 100 index companies 38 closed up, 62 closed down.

Top losers during the day were KTML (-5.16%), GADT (-4.64%), EFUG (-3.37%), FHAM (-2.95%), and PABC (-2.85%).

On the other hand, top gainers were BNWM (+9.99%), AGL (+6.74%), PSX (+5.81%), ISL (+5.34%), and PTC (+4.20%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were EFERT (-116.02pts), LUCK (-111.57pts), SYS (-72.70pts), MARI (-50.23pts), and HUBC (-48.17pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were ENGROH (+179.54pts), FFC (+110.39pts), OGDC (+73.65pts), MCB (+31.48pts), and PSX (+30.03pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Cement (-152.71pts), Technology & Communication (-66.58pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (-59.90pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-47.64pts), and Miscellaneous (-37.85pts).

While the index was supported by Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (+209.57pts), Engineering (+30.89pts), Refinery (+14.18pts), Real Estate Investment Trust (+13.65pts), and Tobacco (+13.20pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 89,824.60 with a net loss of 81.75 points or 0.09%.

Total market volume was 548.05 million shares compared to 712.50m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs45.49 billion showing a decrease of Rs10.19bn.

There were 359,895 trades reported in 482 companies with 151 closing up, 296 closing down, and 35 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 19,755 points or 15.73% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 30,256 points or 26.28% so far this calendar year.
