PSX Closing Bell: A Game of Inches

August 15, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Friday's trading session at 146,491.63, showing a decrease of 37.67 points or 0.03%.

The index traded in a range of 1,264.82 points showing an intraday high of 147,534.41 (+1,005.11) and a low of 146,269.59 (-259.71) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 187.00 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 50 closed up, 48 closed down, while 2 were unchanged.

Top losers during the day were OGDC (-2.57%), GADT (-2.25%), PSX (-2.21%), PPL (-2.13%), and PIBTL (-2.01%).

On the other hand, top gainers were AIRLINK (+6.17%), MUGHAL (+5.89%), BNWM (+3.50%), EFERT (+3.25%), and AVN (+2.87%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were OGDC (-149.92pts), UBL (-149.81pts), PPL (-87.64pts), HUBC (-65.25pts), and MARI (-46.28pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were EFERT (+132.17pts), LUCK (+131.65pts), ENGROH (+112.58pts), MEBL (+97.03pts), and AIRLINK (+38.86pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-289.99pts), Power Generation & Distribution (-76.00pts), Commercial Banks (-59.52pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (-54.29pts), and Food & Personal Care Products (-23.60pts).

While the index was supported by Fertilizer (+149.33pts), Cement (+116.42pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (+100.95pts), Engineering (+29.25pts), and Pharmaceuticals (+19.60pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 90,536.33 with a net loss of 112.92 points or 0.12%.

Total market volume was 473.60 million shares compared to 647.09m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs32.88 billion showing a decrease of Rs8.01bn.

There were 332,203 trades reported in 479 companies with 226 closing up, 219 closing down, and 34 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 20,864 points or 16.61% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 31,365 points or 27.24% so far this calendar year.
