PSX Close: KSE-100 Index declines by 87 points

August 29, 2022 (MLN): The Pakistan Stock Market (PSX) on Monday remained in the red zone and closed the session in consolidation due to absence of fresh triggers.

The investors adopted a cautious stance owing to the recent flood and ahead of the IMF meeting today. However, value buying was witnessed at end of the session.

Accordingly, the benchmark KSE-100 index ended the trading session with an 87.17 point or 0.20% decline to close at 42,504.34.

The index touched an intraday low of 41,822.26.

Of the 93 traded companies in the KSE100 Index, 35 closed up 50 closed down, while 8 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 112.00 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 30 points, Food & Personal Care Products with 24 points, Automobile Assembler with 18 points, Pharmaceuticals with 16 points and Textile Composite with 13 points.

The most points taken off the index was by HBL which stripped the index of 25 points followed by LUCK with 21 points, PPL with 18 points, NESTLE with 18 points and MTL with 17 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Fertilizer with 42 points, Engineering with 13 points, Technology & Communication with 12 points, Automobile Parts & Accessories with 6 points and Insurance with 4 points.

The most points added to the index was by EFERT which contributed 40 points followed by SYS with 30 points, BAHL with 11 points, UBL with 9 points and ISL with 8 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 36.54 Million to 229.21 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.40.25 Billion.

Total companies traded were 337 compared to 331 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 115 closed up, 197 closed down while 25 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 8,351 to 105,471.

Value Traded decreased by 1.75 Billion to Rs.7.28 Billion
