PM emphasizes local resource use to boost exports

July 09, 2025 (MLN): To strengthen the economy and achieve self-reliance, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the urgent need to harness Pakistan’s local resources.

During a high-level meeting with prominent figures from the industrial sector in Islamabad, the Prime Minister focused discussions on industrial growth, boosting exports, and resolving issues faced by the business community.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister welcomed the participants and informed them that the country had achieved economic stability.

He said that the government’s attention is now on growth-oriented objectives enhancing exports, creating jobs, developing industries, and attracting foreign investments.

Shehbaz Sharif underscored the importance of engaging the business community in the policymaking process, stating their input is vital for national economic advancement.

He pledged to hold monthly meetings with private sector leaders to ensure regular consultation and inclusion in economic planning.

He further committed to involving professionals and experts from various fields to guide development efforts.

Business leaders attending the session acknowledged the government’s efforts to stabilize the economy under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership.

They particularly praised the successful negotiation and implementation of the IMF program, describing it as a critical step in safeguarding Pakistan’s economic future.

Participants also welcomed the current budget, labeling it people-friendly and conducive to improving the business environment, as per the press release issued.

They stressed the need for government policies to align with the priorities of business, industry, and investment, while calling for increased support for investors and exporters to draw more foreign investment.

Officials at the meeting highlighted the government's ongoing initiatives to increase coordination with the private sector and improve policy awareness.

They revealed that a modern IT ecosystem is being introduced for the first time in the country's history, including AI-driven systems in areas like agriculture.

Additionally, the government is intensifying consultations with exporters to upgrade port infrastructure and ensure the full functionality of Gwadar Port.
